'The Larder', a melodrama with a horrific twist by Billy J Jackson of Open Mind Surgery, was filmed using the tic's Media Vault's technical resources.
The short narrative film, (in the style of Tales of the Unexpected), sees intruders menace the isolated farmhouse in which 'hero', Alex, entertains guests at a sumptuous dinner party - part of a ritual established by Alex's deceased father. Old friends gather to honour the father’s memory and enjoy the culinary skills passed down to his only son. The introduction of a young French woman, Yvette, to the occasion brings youth and freshness, in contrast to its otherwise archaic decadence. Tension builds as it is realised that the party are not alone. Alex leaves the table to investigate a disturbance and it becomes apparent that things are not as they seem. The film then moves towards an unexpected and horrific finale. |
